Technology Leadership
And Exemplary Corporate Citizenship
In addition to our century of power and water experience, Newnan Utilities has been at the forefront of evolving digital services. In 1997, our first customer was connected to our hybrid coaxial fiber network, and soon our cable and high speed Internet services became available to Newnan and much of Coweta County. In March 2002, we branded our broadband Internet service with the powerful name, Acceleron. Since then, we've enhanced Acceleron's speed and reliability, as we continue to build the brand throughout our service area.
Newnan Utilities launched nuTV, our advanced digital cable TV service in 2003. We were the first cable provider in Georgia to offer digital television service, High Definition TV and Digital Video Recording. Many of our past and present technological milestones have greatly influenced utility companies across the state and across the country.
In early 2006, Newnan Utilities proudly announced the implementation of a long term, practical solution for bio-solid reuse with the development of a composting program. This responsible choice will create a soil additive bi-product to be used in landscape applications. Our state of the art composting site will provide an alternative solution to landfill dumping, solidifying our position of accountable environmental management.
Newnan Utilities’ commitment to our community is evident in the many civic and charitable causes we support. The popular Nenwnan Utilities' Carl Miller Park, annual holiday light displays in the town square, and our yearly Luau are just a few examples of our purpose-driven corporate culture. Our annual contributions to the City of Newnan exceed $1.5 million. We have contributed tens of millions of dollars in cash, services and franchise fees over the years all to enhance the quality of life for the communities we serve.
